Over the past decades, empirical evidence has shown that bats are crucial in maintaining ecosystem health and services. Despite numerous studies assessing the value of bats, key information about many species remains unknown; it is the case of Neotropical ones Platyrrhinus angustirostris is in the Platyrrhinus helleri species complex and was previously classified under the nominal taxon; therefore, the conservation status and threats to this species are currently poorly known.
