Abstract: Angola has experienced an incredible increase of the knowledge of its herpetofauna over the past decade. However, accurate biodiversity inventories remain deficient for certain regions of particular conservation interest. We therefore provide an updated checklist of Iona National Park’s herpetofauna, with 75 recorded species, including five amphibians and 70 reptiles, 40 of these recorded for the first time in Iona National Park. These species comprise ~80% of the reptile diversity of Namibe Province. Therefore, this work recognises Iona National Park as the most reptile-diverse protected area in Angola and is potentially one of the richest in southern Africa. Consequently, this work enhances the importance of specific conservation plans in the area and the need for further investigation into the hidden biodiversity of this region.

A preliminary checklist of amphibians and reptiles from the vicinity of La Nube Biological Station, Bahuaja-Sonene National Park, Peru https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/34144/ Check List 15(5): 773-796

DOI: 10.15560/15.5.773

Authors: Irbin B. Llanqui, Cinthya Y. Salas, Melissa P. Oblitas

Abstract: We present a preliminary list of the herpetofauna in the vicinity of La Nube Biological Station, Bahuaja-Sonene National Park, Peru. We recorded 18 amphibian species and 15 reptile species. We add 14 species to the final list, which were not confirmed by previous studies for this area. For 2 amphibian species, Pristimantis cf. ockendeni Boulenger, 1912 and Bolitoglossa cf. altamazonica Cope, 1874, we provide a brief description for our tentative iden-tifications. Similarly, we comment on 2 rare reptile species, Apostolepis nigroterminata Boulenger, 1896 and Epictia diaplocia Orejas-Miranda, 1969.

Extension of the geographical distribution of Schneider’s Dwarf Caiman, Paleosuchus trigonatus (Schneider, 1801) (Crocodylia: Alligatoridae), in the Amazon–Cerrado transition, Brazil https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/15007/ Check List 13(4): 91-94

DOI: 10.15560/13.4.91

Authors: Zilca Campos, Fábio Muniz, William E Magnusson

Abstract: We present new records of occurrence of Schneider’s Dwarf Caiman, Paleosuchus trigonatus and extend its geographical distribution. Eight individuals were caught in the following locations: Sangue River, in the municipality of Campo Novo dos Parecis, Claro River and Marapi River, in the municipality of São José do Rio Claro, and tributaries of the Juruena River, in the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. These records extend the geographical distribution of the species nearly 500 km south of the limit given in published range maps.
