Abstract: In July 2022, we collected three groups of Clathrus columnatus Bosc (Clathraceae) specimens (four mature and eight immature basidiomata) from Santa Cruz Island, Galapagos. We report these specimens as the first confirmed records of this species from the Galapagos Archipelago and Ecuador. We hypothesize that C. columnatus constitutes a recent introduction to the islands. We provide macro- and microscopic descriptions, including photographs of fresh and fluid-preserved basidiomata, and comments on the species’ taxonomy, ecology, and distribution.

DOI: 10.15560/19.3.399

Authors: Margarita Dueñas, María P. Martín, M. Teresa Telleria

Abstract: In the framework of a research project on corticioid fungi (Basidiomycota) from Cape Verde, we collected several specimens provisionally assigned to Coniophora sp. On the basis of morphological and molecular analyses, we identified these specimens as C. eremophila Lindsey & Gilb. These records extend the geographical distribution of this species by approximately 8,800 km in a straight line west to east, from its previously known North American locality and 8,700 km southwest to northeast from the other known locality in Chile. The pres-ence of the genus Coniophora is reported for the first time in the Cape Verde Archipelago.

A new occurrence of Gyrodontium sacchari (Spreng.) Hjortstam Pat. (Boletales, Coniophoraceae) expands the geographic distribution of the genus in Brazil https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/94345/ Check List 19(1): 27-34

DOI: 10.15560/19.1.27

Authors: Lucas Leonardo-Silva, Francisco J. Simões Calaça, Geovane Pereira-Silva, Carlos de Melo e Silva-Neto, Solange Xavier-Santos

Abstract: We report the first occurrence of the genus Gyrodontium Pat. from the Brazilian Cerrado based on our finding of G. sacchari (Spreng.) Hjortstam. This also represents the first record of the family Coniophoraceae from the Midwest Region of central Brazil. We identified the sample by morphological and phylogenetic analyses (ITS gene), and a voucher was deposited in the fungarium of the Universidade Estadual de Goiás (HUEG-Fungi). This record adds to the knowledge of the Cerrado’s funga by providing new phylogenetic and biogeographic data for G. sacchari from a Neotropical region.

First records of Tylopilus glutinosus Iqbal Hosen (Boletaceae) from Shorea robusta-dominated forests in tropical India: morphological description and phylogenetic estimation https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/83584/ Check List 18(3): 553-562

DOI: 10.15560/18.3.553

Authors: Dyutiparna Chakraborty, Matteo Gelardi, Manoj Emanuel Hembrom, Aniket Ghosh

Abstract: During the routine survey for exploring the hidden macrofungal wealth of tropical Sal (Shorea robusta Roth) forests in West Bengal and Jharkhand (India), we found a specimen similar to Tylopilus plumbeoviolaceous (Snell & E.A.Dick) Snell & E.A.Dick. After careful morphological observations and phylogenetic analysis, the species was found to be conspecific with Tylopilus glutinosus Iqbal Hosen, a recently established taxon from Bangladesh. We report T. glutinosus for the first time from India and provide a detailed description, figures, a multigene phylogenetic analysis, and comprehensive comparisons with similar species. A distributional map is also provided.

First record of Chlorophyllum molybdites (G. Mey.) Massee (Basidiomycota, Agaricales, Agaricaceae) from Bucaramanga, Department of Santander, Colombia https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/76623/ Check List 18(3): 469-474

DOI: 10.15560/18.3.469

Authors: Ximena A. Olarte-Castillo, Carlos Andrés Antolínez

Abstract: Colombia is a megadiverse country with many macrofungi species. Despite their ecological, anthropological, and economic importance, the distribution of many macrofungal species is still scarcely known in this country. Chlorophyllum molybdites (G. Mey.) Massee is a poisonous macrofungus common in urban settings of tropical and subtropical regions. In Colombia it has only been reported in three of 32 departments. To fill this gap in knowledge we morphologically describe for the first time C. molybdites from the city of Bucaramanga, Department of Santander, extending the known distribution of this macrofungus in Colombia.

First records of Myriostoma calongei Baseia, Sousa & Martín (Geastraceae, Basidiomycota) in central Brazil https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/46474/ Check List 16(1): 53-57

DOI: 10.15560/16.1.53

Authors: Carlos Filipe Camilo-Cotrim, Lucas Leonardo-Silva, Solange Xavier-Santos

Abstract: Myriostoma Desv. is a genus of gasteroid fungi, distinguished from the other star-shaped fungi by the basidioma morphology with multiple pedicels and multi-stomata endoperidium. Studies based on phylogenetic, morphological characteristics and geographical distribution allowed the delimitation of five species in the genus. In Brazil, it is represented by M. calongei Baseia, Sousa & Martín, which distribution was restricted to South and Northeast regions. The present study describes the first records of Myriostoma in central Brazil, including Cerrado biome and Central-West region, thus expanding the known geographic distribution in the country.
