DOI: 10.15560/17.1.59

Authors: Cintia Santos, Laís R. Santos, Marciel E. Rodrigues

Abstract: Leptagrion acutum Santos, 1961 is endemic to Brazil and, since 2003, listed as Critically Endangered in the Red Book of Threatened Brazilian Fauna. In this study, L. acutum is recorded for the first time from the state of Bahia, expanding known occurrences of this species to northern areas of the Atlantic Forest. Three males were collected in the Veracel Station Private Reserve of Natural Heritage. Information concerning distributional records of rare or endangered species is essential because it can add to species’ occurrence records and assist in future Red List assessments.

Odonata from Bahia Solano, Colombian Pacific Region https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/53835/ Check List 16(6): 1561-1573

DOI: 10.15560/16.6.1561

Authors: Fredy Palacino-Rodríguez, Diego Andrés Palacino-Penagos, Albert Antonio Gonzalez-Neita

Abstract: We present a checklist of Odonata species from Bahia Solano Municipality in the Pacific Region of Colombia. Sampling effort included 715 h between December 2018 and January 2020. We recorded 51 species in 27 genera and seven families. The most representative families were Libellulidae with 14 genera and 29 species and Coenagrionidae with 10 genera and 16 species. Argia fulgida Navás, 1934 and Erythrodiplax funerea (Hagen, 1861) are newly recorded from Chocó Department. The richer localities in terms of species numbers are conservation areas which are little impacted by indigenous traditional agriculture.

First record of Elga leptostyla Ris, 1911 (Odonata, Libellulidae) from Costa Rica https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/53857/ Check List 16(4): 911-914

DOI: 10.15560/16.4.911

Authors: Jareth Román-Heracleo, Monika Springer

Abstract: During research in the Tirimbina Biological Reserve, on the Caribbean slope of Costa Rica, we captured adult specimens and reared larvae of the dragonfly Elga leptostyla Ris, 1911, which belongs to the Libellulidae. This species was previously reported only from southern Panama to northern South America. Therefore, this is the first record of the species and genus from Costa Rica, increasing the number of Libellulidae species recorded in the country to 95. This species’ known distribution is northwards.

DOI: 10.15560/15.2.327

Authors: Javier A. Márquez, Romina E. Principe, Diego E. Berejnoi, José S. Rodríguez, José C. Bedano, Carlos Molineri

Abstract: Nineteen geographical records for species of Odonata in 2 provinces of Argentina are documented. We provided records for 9 newly recorded species for Córdoba: Lestes spatula Fraser, 1946, Andinagrion peterseni (Ris, 1908), Argentagrion ambiguum (Ris, 1904), Erythemis attala (Selys in Sagra, 1857), Erythemis plebeja (Burmeister, 1839), Erythrodiplax media Borror, 1942, Micrathyria longifasciata Calvert, 1909, Micrathyria hypodidyma Calvert, 1906, and Tramea cophysa Hagen, 1867. In San Luis, we provided records for 10 newly recorded species: Hetaerina rosea Selys, 1853, Acanthagrion lancea Selys, 1876, Ischnura fluviatilis Selys, 1876, Oxyagrion rubidium (Rambur, 1842), Castoraeschna decurvata Dunkle & Cook, 1984, Rhionaeschna pallipes (Fraser, 1947), Phyllocycla argentina (Hagen in Selys, 1878), Erythrodiplax corallina (Brauer, 1865), Perithemis mooma Kirby, 1889, and Planiplax erythropyga (Karsch, 1891). Among these records, we extend the geographic distribution of A. peterseni and R. pallipes, which are endemic to Argentina and recorded P. erythropyga for the first time in Chaco phytogeographic province.

First record of Epophthalmia vittata Burmeister, 1839 (Insecta, Odonata, Anisoptera) from Dhaka, Bangladesh https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/22432/ Check List 13(6): 845-847

DOI: 10.15560/13.6.845

Authors: Gouranga Kumar Biswas, Amit Kumer Neogi, Aaratrik Pal

Abstract: We report Epophthalmia vittata Burmeister, 1839 (Odonata, Anisoptera, Macromiidae) from Bangladesh for the first time, based on a specimen collected on 27 May 2016 in the National Botanical Garden, Dhaka. This is first record of any species of the family Macromiidae from Bangladesh. This new record exemplifies gaps in sampling for dragonflies in Bangladesh and suggests that additional research on odonates in the country is needed.
