DOI: 10.15560/19.5.647

Authors: Viengkhone Vannachak, Peter Malzacher, Narumon Sangpradub

Abstract: The genus Elatosara was described by Malzacher, 2020 from the Mekong River in Thailand, with E. phanomensis Malzacher, 2020 as its type species. Here, we report E. phanomensis for the first time from central and southern Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR). A few morphological variations were observed in the Lao PDR population as compared to the paratypes of E. phanomensis. The discovery of E. phanomensis extends the distribution of the genus to the Lao PDR.

A new record of the Cuban endemic mayfly Poecilophlebia pacoi (Kluge, 1994) (Ephemeroptera, Leptophlebiidae) from Gran Piedra massif, eastern Cuba https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/63835/ Check List 17(4): 1103-1106

DOI: 10.15560/17.4.1103

Authors: Juan Carlos Salazar-Salina, Yusdiel Torres-Cambas

Abstract: The endemic mayfly Poecilophlebia pacoi Kluge,1994 was described for Turquino massif, Sierra Maestra mountain range, Cuba. So far it was known only from two river catchments within this country. Distribution of Poecilophlebia pacoi extends up to Gran Piedra massif of Sierra Maestra mountain range. The main distinguishing morphological characteristics of the larvae were used for the species recognition. Also previous and new locality are georeferenced and mapped. The new record expands the known distribution range of P. pacoi approximately 55 km to the east and suggests the possibility of finding additional records farther from the type locality.

DOI: 10.15560/16.3.579

Authors: Stênio Raniery de Sousa Nascimento, Lucas Ramos Costa Lima, Carlos Augusto Silva de Azevêdo

Abstract: A checklist and new records of Leptophlebiidae (Ephemeroptera) are presented for the Maranhão state, in Brazil’s Northeast Region. Fifteen 15 genera and 20 species of Leptophlebiidae were identified. Farrodes xingu, Hermanellopsis arsia, Hydromastodon sallesi, Miroculis duckensis, Thraulodes marreroi, and Tikuna bilineata are reported for the first time for the Northeast Region, and Miroculitus emersoni is recorded for the first time in Brazil. The number of known species of Leptophlebiidae in Maranhão is increased from three to 21.

Contribution to the mayflies (Insecta, Ephemeroptera) of Jordan https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/47686/ Check List 16(2): 237-242

DOI: 10.15560/16.2.237

Authors: Ikhlas Alhejoj, Michel Sartori, Jean-Luc Gattolliat

Abstract: We here treat four unreported or poorly known mayfly species from Jordan: Cheleocloeon soldani Gattolliat & Sar-tori, 2008, Cloeon vanharteni Gattolliat & Sartori, 2008, Baetis pacis Yanai & Gattolliat, 2018, and Caenis macrura Stephens, 1835. They are reported and morphologically distinguished from other local relatives. Caenis macrura is widely distributed in the Palaearctic, Ch. soldani and C. vanharteni originated from the Arabian Peninsula, and B. pacis is restricted to a small area in southern Levant. We provide a complete checklist of the Jordanian mayfly fauna and deliver an identification key to the nymphal stages.

Contribution to the mayflies (Insecta, Ephemeroptera) of Israel and the Palestinian Authority https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/47681/ Check List 16(2): 229-236

DOI: 10.15560/16.2.229

Authors: Zohar Yanai, Michel Sartori, Jean-Luc Gattolliat

Abstract: We here list four unreported mayfly species from Israel and the Palestinian Authority: Cloeon vanharteni Gattolliat & Sartori, 2008, Cheleocloeon soldani Gattolliat & Sartori, 2008, Oligoneuriella orontensis Koch, 1980 and Prosopistoma oronti Alouf, 1977. They are reported, morphologically distinguished from other local relatives, and sequenced for their mitochondrial COI barcoding segment. Two species, C. vanharteni and Ch. soldani, are known from the Arabian Peninsula, while O. orontensis and P. oronti are Levantine (with wide or more restricted ranges), emphasizing the importance of the Jordan River catchment as a biogeographic meeting-point.

Sand burrowing mayflies of the family Behningiidae (Ephemeroptera) from South Korea https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/34987/ Check List 15(5): 879-882

DOI: 10.15560/15.5.879

Authors: Hyoung Rye Park, Sang Wook Lee, Geonho Cho

Abstract: New distributional record of little-known Behningiidae is presented from South Korea for Behningia tshernovae Edmunds & Traver, 1959. South Korea represents the first report of the species outside of the Russian Far East. We provide the photos of B. tshernovae nymphs as well as the male and female for diagnosis and confirm the previously known relation between the larva and adult.

An unexpected record of Simothraulopsis Demoulin, 1966 (Ephemeroptera, Leptophlebiidae) in the Paraná Basin, Brazil https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/34399/ Check List 15(3): 375-378

DOI: 10.15560/15.3.375

Authors: Luiz R. R. Faria, Frederico F. Salles

Abstract: We recorded for the first time the occurrence of the mayfly genus Simothraulopsis Demoulin, 1966 in the Paraná Basin. Adults of Simothraulopsis demerara (Traver, 1947) and Simothraulopsis diamantinensis Mariano, 2010 were collected using a white sheet light trap installed on the bank of Iguaçu River, near the falls in Iguaçu National Park, Brazil. These new records significantly expand southwards the distribution of the genus.

New records of a poorly studied mayfly species, Eurylophella karelica Tiensuu, 1935 (Ephemeroptera, Ephemerellidae), in the Baltic Ecoregion https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/20170/ Check List 13(4): 349-353

DOI: 10.15560/13.4.349

Authors: Dāvis Ozoliņš, Jolanta Jēkabsone, Agnija Skuja, Henn Timm

Abstract: Eurylophella karelica is a rare and poorly investigated species of European Ephemeroptera from the family Ephemerellidae. From the 1930s to 1970s, E. karelica has not been reported from historical localities in Karelia, Lithuania and Poland. New localities from Hungary, Slovenia and Lithuania are discovered over the last 2 decades. This article reports first findings of E. karelica in Latvia and Estonia and explains sporadic distribution of this species.
