Authors: Yusuke Fuke, Tomoaki Maruyama

Abstract: Knobtooth Prawn, Macrobrachium mammillodactylus (Thallwitz, 1891), is an amphidromous freshwater prawn that occurs in the tropics of the western Pacific Ocean. Here, we report a new record of this species from Miyako Island, in the Ryukyu Archipelago, Japan. The obtained specimens were mature, suggesting that they had overwintered. This record updates the northern limit of M. mammillodactylus and suggests an expansion of the range of this species.

DOI: 10.15560/18.2.363

Authors: Juliana G. Araújo, Whandenson M. Nascimento, Carlos A. M. Martins, Paulo H.P. Nobre, Allysson P. Pinheiro

Abstract: We observed the occurrence of the pseudothelphusid freshwater crab Kingsleya attenboroughi Pinheiro & Santana, 2016 in an unexplored stream on the northern slopes of the Chapada do Araripe, Ceará state, northeastern Brazil. A female specimen of K. attenboroughi was found in a small pool of Gameleira stream, district of Missão Nova, municipality of Missão Velha, in the southern part of the state. The new occurrence record extends the geographic distribution of K. attenboroughi by 7 km beyond the Sítio Cocos, its easternmost previously known occurrence; this expands the geographic range of this species to the southeast and indicates that its real distribution is still poorly known.

Checklist of the freshwater shrimps (Crustacea, Decapoda, Caridea) from the Banggai Archipelago, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/79274/ Check List 18(2): 341-355

DOI: 10.15560/18.2.341

Authors: Annawaty Annawaty, Nur Hidayah E. Lapasang, Puji Rahayu, Hairul Hairul, Fazlur Rahman I. Tadeko, Diky Dwiyanto

Abstract: The mainland of Sulawesi is well known for its high diversity of freshwater shrimps. However, many small islands surrounding Sulawesi have been neglected and have not been unexplored. Here, we report on the freshwater shrimps of the Banggai Archipelago, eastern Sulawesi, based on field collections between 2017 and 2019 on four islands, Peleng, Labobo, Bangkurung, and Banggai. Eleven species were found: Caridina brevidactyla J. Roux, 1920, Caridina brevicarpalis De Man, 1892, Caridina gracilipes De Man, 1892, Caridina gracilirostris De Man, 1892, Caridina serratirostris De Man, 1892, Caridina typus H. Milne Edwards, 1837, Caridina weberi De Man, 1892, Macrobrachium australe (Guérin-Méneville, 1838), Macrobrachium equidens (Dana, 1852), Macrobrachium lar (Fabricius, 1798), and Macrobrachium latidactylus (Thallwitz, 1891). One species, C. brevidactyla, is a newly recorded from Sulawesi. Knowledge of the diversity of the freshwater shrimp fauna can contribute to the conservation of species and their habitats.

Review of the distribution and new occurrences of Lacunicambarus thomai (Jezerinac, 1993) (Decapoda, Cambaridae) in Pennsylvania and its possible introduction outside of its native range https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/67234/ Check List 17(6): 1461-1473

DOI: 10.15560/17.6.1461

Authors: Patrick F. Allison Jr., Tanya N. Khan, Destinee A. Davis, David A. Lieb, Zachary J. Loughman

Abstract: Recent investigations into the distributions of western Pennsylvania, USA, crayfishes have yielded 30 new occurrences of Lacunicambarus thomai (Jezerinac, 1993). The discovery of a population of L. thomai in Crawford County is the furthest north population in the state. Two populations of L. thomai were discovered outside of its historic range in Fayette and Somerset counties in southwestern Pennsylvania. These populations are in recreational fishing destinations and may have been introduced by bait bucket or construction fill. Additional surveys for Pennsylvania L. thomai should occur in areas lacking recent, thorough searches.

New records of the troglobitic Hyalella veredae Cardoso & Bueno, 2014 (Crustacea, Amphipoda, Hyalellidae) from Minas Gerais caves, southeast Brazil, with notes on its natural history https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/58976/ Check List 17(1): 115-123

DOI: 10.15560/17.1.115

Authors: Tamires Zepon, Leonardo P. A. Resende, Alessandra A. P. Bueno, Maria Elina Bichuette

Abstract: Since its description, the troglobitic amphipod Hyalella veredae Cardoso & Bueno, 2014 has been recorded only in its type locality, Vereda da Palha cave, in southeastern Brazil. We report this species from three other caves in the region, expanding its distribution by at least 20 km². Inter- and intra-population variability in eye size was observed. Two caves had larger populations, probably due to the presence of biofilm. The species was classified as Critically Endangered due to its restricted area of occurrence, and regional impacts and threats.
