Abstract: Scincella assata (Cope, 1864) is known from eight departments from El Salvador. Based on recent fieldwork and research in scientific collections and databases, we report 12 new records of S. assata from the country, bringing the total number of verified occurrences to 40. Scincella assata is recorded for first time in the departments of Morazan and Usulatán. Additionally, we conducted potential distribution modeling of S. assata. Results from the distribution modeling suggest the presence of this species in all 14 departments of El Salvador, four of which currently lack verified records.

A herpetological survey of Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/58064/ Check List 17(1): 27-38

DOI: 10.15560/17.1.27

Authors: Dillon Jones, Bethany Foshee, Lee Fitzgerald

Abstract: Urban herpetology deals with the interaction of amphibians and reptiles with each other and their environment in an urban setting. As such, well-preserved natural areas within urban environments can be important tools for conservation. Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary is an 18-acre wooded sanctuary located west of downtown Houston, Texas and is the headquarters to Houston Audubon Society. This study compared iNaturalist data with results from visual encounter surveys and aquatic funnel traps. Results from these two sources showed 24 species belonging to 12 families and 17 genera of herpetofauna inhabit the property. However, several species common in surrounding areas were absent. Combination of data from community science and traditional survey methods allowed us to better highlight herpetofauna present in the park besides also identifying species that may be of management concern for Edith L. Moore.

New distribution record and an updated map of Eutropis multifasciata (Kuhl, 1820) (Squamata, Scincidae) from Dhaka division, Bangladesh https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/54574/ Check List 16(4): 1063-1066

DOI: 10.15560/16.4.1063

Authors: Arnob Saha, Md. Mahabub Alam, Md. Salauddin

Abstract: The Many-lined Sun Skink, Eutropis multifasciata (Kuhl, 1820), has so far been reported from seven localities in Bangladesh. We present the first record of this species from Faridpur district of the country. Our new record extends the distribution of the species by nearly 123 km from its nearest previously known record at Jahangiragar University, Dhaka district, and updates the distribution of this poorly known species in Bangladesh.

Distributional extension for a dry forest species, Mesoscincus managuae (Dunn, 1933) (Squamata, Scincidae), on the Subhumid Caribbean versant of Honduras https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/31741/ Check List 15(2): 269-273

DOI: 10.15560/15.2.269

Authors: Mario Roberto Espinal, José Manuel Mora

Abstract: Mesoscincus managuae (Dunn, 1933) (Squamata, Scincidae) is a typical dry-forest species found along the Pacific versant of Central America from Guatemala to northwestern Costa Rica. Here, we report the occurrence of this species on the Caribbean versant of Honduras, specifically on the Sula Plain, Deparment of Cortés. This is a subhumid habitat similar to others in the Mesoamerican region which have comparable herpetofauna assemblages and where M. managuae has already been recorded.

Herpetofauna recorded by a fauna rescue program in a Caatinga area of João Câmara, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/21674/ Check List 13(5): 647-657

DOI: 10.15560/13.5.647

Authors: Pedro de Oliveira Calixto, Sérgio Augusto Abrahão Morato

Abstract: We present an annotated list of herpetofauna for the municipality of João Câmara, Rio Grande do Norte State (RN), Brazil, in Caatinga domain. The data were obtained through fauna rescue program activities performed during theinstallation of two wind energy parks. We recorded 10 species of lizards, eight snakes, four amphisbaenids and three anurans. The results obtained present extensions to known geographic distribution for four species (Amphisbaena littoralis, Enyalius bibronii, Epictia borapeliotes and Corythomantis greeningi) and add information to the natural history of the first two species. This constitutes the second list of herpetofauna for RN. Our results show that such studies may contribute useful data on herpetofauna, especially in poorly studied areas.
