Abstract: The Hawaiian river shrimp Macrobrachium grandimanus (Randall, 1840) is an amphidromous brackish water prawn that inhabits the Hawaiian Islands (type locality), Ryukyu Islands, Melanesia (Fiji, New Caledonia), and Polynesia (Tonga). Here, we report a new record of this species from Guam, Micronesia. Two genetically and morphologically differentiated lineages of this species are known: the Hawaiian and the Ryukyu lineages. Morphological and mitochondrial DNA analyses revealed that the Guam population is closely related to the Ryukyu lineage.

First record of the Radial Lionfish, Pterois radiata Cuvier, 1829 (Scorpaeniformes, Scorpaenidae), for Kosrae, Micronesia https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/50528/ Check List 16(5): 1125-1128

DOI: 10.15560/16.5.1125

Authors: Floyd E. Hayes

Abstract: The Radial Lionfish, Pterois radiata Cuvier, 1829, is widely distributed across the tropical Indian Ocean and western Pacific Ocean and has been previously documented from most of the major island groups of Micronesia, but not from Kosrae. On 21 June 2014 an adult P. radiata was photographed in shallow water along the eastern edge of Blue Hole near Lelu village, Kosrae, Micronesia, providing the first documented record for Kosrae.

First record of the Spinner Dolphin Stenella longirostris longirostris (Cetacea: Delphinidae) for Kosrae, Micronesia https://checklist.pensoft.net/article/14985/ Check List 13(4): 31-34

DOI: 10.15560/13.4.31

Authors: Floyd E Hayes, Brandon J Painter

Abstract: The Spinner Dolphin Stenella longirostris longirostris (Gray, 1828) has been reported from most of the island groups from Micronesia, except for Kosrae. On 25 June 2014 we observed a pod of about 10 dolphins at Molsron Yela, Kosrae. Our photos of the dolphins confirm their identity as S. l. longirostris, based on the extremely long and slender snout combined with the tricolored pattern of a dark gray cape, gray sides, and white belly. This provides the first documented record for Kosrae.
