Check List granted its very first Journal Impact Factor

18 July 2023

The latest Journal Citation Reports™ - released by Clarivate in late June 2023 - features Check List - the journal of biodiversity data amongst the scholarly titles making use of the Journal Impact Factor (JIF) citation metric by Web of Science (WoS).

The score - meant to reflect the times 2022 publications indexed by WoS have cited research and review articles published in Check List in 2020 and 2021 - currently stands at 0.4.

Check List is indexed in two WoS categories: Biodiversity conservation and Zoology. For the time being, Clarivate postpones the assignment of quartiles to journals that have just received their first JIF.

“It has been a long road for the journal since its first volume in 2015. Along this time, the continuous efforts of the production team, assistant and subject editors, together with the support provided by Pensoft, have been fundamental in achieving this milestone,” says Editor-in-Chief Dr Felipe Moreira, Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).

Earlier in June, Check List received its 2022 Scopus CiteScore: 1.1, which places the journal in Q3 in five Scopus categories: Insect Science; Ecology; Animal Science and Zoology; Plant Science; and Ecology, Evolution, Behavior and Systematics. Unlike WoS, the Scopus metric counts citations received over the last four complete years to articles, reviews, conference papers, book chapters and data papers published in the same period. The list of journals in the Scopus database also differs from the ones indexed by WoS.
