Abstract
Eucibdelus (Eucibdelus) ishigakiensis Hayashi, 1997 (Coleoptera, Staphylinidae, Staphylininae), previously considered endemic to Ishigaki Island, is newly recorded on Iriomote Island in the Yaeyama Islands, Okinawa, Japan. Specimens were collected using light traps during winter and spring from mid‑January to late March over nearly 20 years by an experienced amateur coleopterist. These records indicate that adults are attracted to artificial light and suggest potential seasonal differences from Ishigaki populations. This study provides new insights into the distribution and phenology of the species and emphasizes the value of long‑term, community‑based monitoring.
